Axis is Finalist in Best of Enterprise Storage Category

LAS VEGAS, Nevada-November 15, 2001-Dot Hill Systems Corp., (NYSE: HIL) a leading provider of carrier-class information storage and storage area network (SAN) solutions, announced today that its SANnet® Axis intelligent storage appliance has been chosen as one of only three finalists for the Best of COMDEX Award in the Enterprise Storage category. These awards recognize the most innovative and influential products and technologies exhibited at COMDEX Fall 2001 being held this week in Las Vegas.

The Best of COMDEX finalists were selected by a panel of senior editors from CIO, Computerworld, InfoWorld, Network World and PC World - all leading information technology (IT) publications. Products were judged on the ability to resolve problems in an innovative way, as well as the impact and benefit they will have on the way organizations conduct business.

Dot Hill chief executive officer Jim Lambert said, "We realized early on that during these challenging economic times, companies need a cost-effective way to leverage their existing IT infrastructure. The SANnet Axis was designed to work with storage systems from Dot Hill -- as well as with systems from our competitors -- as part of our ongoing commitment to providing customers with value-added storage solutions. With list prices starting at under $20,000,

Dot Hill's SANnet Axis combines appliance-level simplicity with advanced enterprise functionality, enabling corporate IT managers to significantly reduce storage management costs. We are very proud to have been selected as finalists for the prestigious Best of COMDEX award, and once again to be recognized for our innovation."

SANnet Axis offers multi-protocol support - including SCSI, Fibre Channel and Internet Protocol (IP) - to deliver any-to-any connectivity for servers, storage, and network assets, and an advanced storage virtualization engine that allows administrators to achieve improved use of existing storage assets by carving virtual storage pools across existing network storage hardware, including SAN, DAS (direct attached storage) and NAS (network attached storage) storage resources. Along with powerful storage virtualization software, SANnet Axis also provides a full range of enterprise storage management software tools, including transparent data mirroring, data replication, snapshot capability, server-free backup, and a high-availability design with active-active failover. The first three models in the SANnet Axis family will be available this month.

The entry-level Axis Basic consolidates SCSI storage and transforms it into modern enterprise-class networked storage using Gigabit Ethernet. Axis HA uses an active-active clustered pair of Axis HA units to enhance storage and network functionality. Axis Remote consists of a matched pair of units that protect information stored on DAS, NAS and SAN systems using remote replication over IP or fibre channel (FC). Dot Hill is a leading independent provider of carrier-class data storage solutions and services.

With SANnet solutions that include storage area networks, NEBS Level 3 certified systems for Telco and Internet operations, and world-class service capabilities, Dot Hill is uniquely positioned to address the storage requirements of mission-critical continuous computing environments. Dot Hill's customers include many of the world's leading Internet service providers, common carriers, service and equipment providers, advanced technology and telecommunications companies, and government agencies.
